Become A Garden Mentor
Knowledgeable gardeners needed for LAGG's garden mentor program. This program is necessary to provide ongoing gardening support to our garden recipients. Garden mentors are assigned to each garden recipient. Mentors schedule routine quarterly follow up visits to our gardens and provides our recipients with hands on gardening tips regarding maintenance, pest control, seasonal planting, harvesting and more. A mentor's quarterly follow up visit takes no more than one hour and is a fine way to pair garden enthusiast with our recipients and keeps our gardens healthy and vibrant. If this program fits your interest, and you'd like to volunteer your time as a garden mentor, please sign up to receive more information.

Volunteer for Dig-in Events or LAGG's Operations Team
Becoming a LAGG Dig-in volunteer is very rewarding. We could not do this inspirational work without our volunteers. Our Dig-ins or "gardening parties" are fun for the entire family. In fact, our master gardeners will teach you all there is to know about starting an edible garden. A typically Dig-in is held on any given Saturday from 9:30am-3:30pm. We bring the garden tools and the Dig-in host provides water and a healthy lunch. All-in-all, its a good thyme. By signing up to volunteer, you'll receive notifications 2 weeks prior to every Dig-in event. Volunteer for as many Dig-is as you wish. Please, RSVP right away as Dig-ins fill up quickly. After you RSVP you will receive a 2nd notification with all the details you'll need about the event. And, if you'd like to volunteer your time, talents and skills in other areas of LAGG operations, please be sure to check all interest that apply. ~See 'ya at the next Dig!

Grow Your Own Food
Garden applicants must be a south Los Angeles resident, interested in an edible garden that is visible to the general public. To date, LAGG has installed over 20 edible gardens through out our service area of south Los Angeles. A LAGG coordinator will guide you through every step of the planning process of what we call a "Dig-in", or in other words, a garden party. You invite your family, friends and neighbors. We bring the tools and additional volunteers and spend approximately 5 hours on a Saturday morning converting your front lawn into an edible garden. Our program is a fine example of building intentional communities, reimaging neighborhoods and encourages sustainable living practices and so much more. Garden recipients participate in LAGG's harvest exchange, sustainable living workshops, and other gardening projects. And, as a recipient of our program, LAGG offers continuing gardening support and education to help you keep your garden thriving season after season.
Please fill out this simple survey and a Dig-in coordinator will contact you with more details about LAGG and how we'll help you grow vegetables, culinary herbs and native plants in your own front yard. Keeping it local, healthy and affordable.
