Nature Fest

Nature Fest 2019

LA Green Ground's own Brigitta Bravo-Jones joins the Nature History Museum for their 5th annual two-day festival as we celebrate L.A.'s wild side! There’s a surprising amount of nature in Los Angeles, and the more you know how to look for it, the more you’ll see. You’ll be blown away by the plants, animals, and the people devoted to protecting and studying them.  Visit the LAGG booth for dirt-friendly fun.

NHM shares the city of Los Angeles with many interesting animal neighbors, from the Griffith Park mountain lion to the birds in the Nature Gardens. Come and explore the wild side of Los Angeles at NHMLA. Meet an opossum, do lunch with a rattlesnake, and go for a walk with a desert tortoise. Museum scientists will be on hand to answer your questions about snails, bugs, birds, and all things city nature.

L.A. Nature Fest unfolds in our very own Nature Gardens, the outdoor space where Museum scientists do real research and educators share nature’s coolest stories.

Each day will be filled with performances, hands-on activities, and presentations.

Festival highlights include:

  • Over 35 exhibitor booths with local organizations
  • Scientists and nature experts excited to answer your questions
  • Live animal presentations, stage performances, and demonstrations
  • Hands on nature crafts and activities

This festival is a resource to learn about the nature all around you!

LAGG is participating again this year and we are looking for volunteers to help during the Nature Fest.   Volunteers will be sharing the overall "Dig-in" mission, gardening information (composting, what to plant, container growing, seed saving, benefits of adding mulch etc.), garden-to-table recipes, and we will be making paper pots for the children (and adults) to plant their seeds.   In the past volunteers have brought egg shells for planting, samples of veggies they've grown, alternative container ideas (empty juice cartons, cans, etc.) and sample of container gardens for our folks with limited space.  Entrance and parking to the museum is free for volunteers.

Looking for a few VOLUNTEERS to help out at the LAGG table for shifts:

  • 2 slots for AM (9:30am-1pm)
  • 3 slots for PM (1pm-5pm)

Then the rest of the time available for you to enjoy the festivities and the museum overall. Some flexibility if you want to work somewhere in between.

VOLUNTEERS REGISTER BELOW TOWARDS THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE:
