Thank you for volunteering for the 2016 Earth Day Fest Children's Activity Area.

Creative Volunteers Needed to make this the most enchanted Earth Day Fest, EVER!

LAGG needs the following awesomeness:

Arts and crafts:

Several volunteer artists/crafty persons needed to assist kids with creating wearable art, crafts and instruments from recyclable materials and materials found in nature. (Optional) Artist are encouraged to collect and bring recyclable and natural materials for these crafts. Do not spend any money. Repurpose and upcycle what you already have from home, friends, and nature. You’ll receive a list of suggested materials and great craft ideas. Some materials and basic art supplies will be on hand (glue, paint, glitter, paper, scissors, tools, twine).

Children’s Face Painting Artists:

Several face painting artists needed to provide creative Earth Day themed designs for body art) face, arms, knees and even those cute little fingers). Sample ideas will be provided. Basic Face painting supplies will be on hand.

Ambassadors of Fun:

To keep the fun running smoothly several creative, happy, hippie, tree-hugging, nature loving, flower-power, kid-friendly volunteers needed to assist with basic operations of children’s activity area. Keep kids waiting in activity lines engaged and entertained with Earth Day tips, riddles, jokes, magic tricks, etc. Help keep craft supplies organized. Help families take pictures with characters. Keep the excitement going and grab a hand-made flag, sign or instrument and participate in the children’s parade and dance celebration. Whatever you do, have a ball doing it! Optional- wear Earth Day themed attire.

Becoming a LAGG volunteer is very rewarding.  We could not do this inspirational work without our volunteers. LAGG is all volunteer-run. We have a variety of ways you can support our mission to have healthy, organic food in South Los Angeles.

Please complete our survey below so we can match your interests, capabilities and time available to LAGG needs.  We will contact you when we find a possible assignment match for you to confirm. (Please don't "just show up" for the protection and productivity of our volunteers.) 

Here are just some examples:

• You live locally, want to get your hands in the dirt, and can commit to an extended period of time on an ongoing basis:
  BE AN LAGG GARDEN KEEPER 1X/week. 
  Help tend LAGG's Teaching Garden in South Los Angeles (near Jefferson & La Cienega). Our current schedule is Tuesday and Saturday mornings, but this may be expanded TBD. If you are a beginner, no worries. Learn by doing. But we do need a commitment for at least 3 months. Please let us know which mornings you are available.
  
  
• You live locally, want to get your hands in the dirt, but can do this one time only, or once in a while.
  VOLUNTEER AT A DIG-IN.
  Our Dig-ins are fun for the entire family. In fact, our master gardeners will teach you all there is to know about starting an edible garden. A typically Dig-in is held on a Saturday from 9:30am-3:30pm.  We bring the garden tools and the Dig-in host provides water and a healthy lunch. All-in-all, its a good thyme. By signing up to volunteer, you'll receive notifications 2 weeks prior to every Dig-in event.  Volunteer for as many Dig-is as you wish.  But RSVP right away as Dig-ins fill up quickly.  After you RSVP you will receive details you'll need about the event.    
  
  SPECIAL EVENTS 
  From time-to-time, we have events that volunteers can help support. For example, at events in our garden for Earth Day and Beans & Rice celebrations. If you are a master gardener, you can assist in our classes to teach others to grow edible gardens.
  
  
• You love our mission but cannot come to our location or events most of the time.
